Prose Poem & Reflection

Capeesh

Holding your hand, I once adored; it’s now a chore. I love you no more.
A girl like me falls in love twenty times a day. A girl like me loves to be loved in every kind of way. You wasted time with all your lies and now our love is dead. It’s quite all right I wish not to fight from morning until noon. And once the flowers bloom, I’ll be gone until forever. Holding your hand, I once adored, but now our love is threw. And like a ship that sails a top waves, I’ve enjoyed getting over you. See a girl like me is a lot to handle and you’ve completely failed the task. Whining and whimpering like a sad pup I was sure this wouldn’t last. It wasn’t true love perhaps merely lust, but whatever the case it’s done. And now that you’re gone I will sing a new song and enjoy a new life of fun. I will run to a place with a smile on my face and enjoy each day a new. After all I might as well live it up, I just finished crying over you. Silly boy those weren’t tears of sorrow, in fact sweet tears of joy to say the least. And I’m sorry if you read this and it breaks your heart, better you than me capeesh?
Reflection (of above piece)

I enjoyed writing this prose piece because it allowed me to write freely without concerning myself with line breaks. Although this poem lacks the line breaks associated with poetry, it still maintains a poetic quality, utilizing techniques common to poetry, such as fragmentation, compression, repetition, and rhyme. It was kind of like writing an essay in a poetic form. This is the first and only prose poem I’ve ever attempted to write, and I appreciate most it’s unique quality and style. The prose form of poetry writing adds a different element of style to what most typically consider poetry.

Sometimes- A Sonnet

Sometimes in life we lose our way
We search for peace but none's obtained
We love alone and die in pain
Heads bowed low, we live in shame

I curse the day my heart was slain,
Laid to rest on death's terrain
I swear to you I'm not insane
I'd risk it all to love again

But in the night when all is done
I'll run with you into the sun
Keep me near and wipe the tears
Keep me close against death's ghosts

Daylight rises in your eyes,
And love kills dreams with every lie

Quote of the Day

"Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength."-anonymous
